Responsibilities:
- Train and supervise boating staff
- Coach/ Co-coach a variety of sessions which include but not limited to sailing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding or windsurfing
- Develop and assign tasks (based on day-to-day operations and goals) and assign tasks to staff, oversee completion of these tasks
- Develop opportunities for experienced staff
- Responsible for overall safety of campers, and staff using boating equipment
- Ensures boating areas and equipment areas are clean and organized
- Coordinate staff appreciation events and budget
- Assist in ensuring waterfront program areas are clean and organized and safe
- Assist in ensuring all motor propelled craft are in working order, full of fuel, contain necessary equipment
- Models positive behaviour and upholds Olympia values
- Actively supervises and motivates staff to perform their best
- Provide recognition and constructive feedback throughout shifts
Job Requirements:
- Experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred
- Experience instructing sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and windsurfing
- Experience with Kids 8-17
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to lift weight of 60 lbs and applicable boats
- Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross (minimum)
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card (Boating License)
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- Clean Police Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check
- CAN-SAIL Sailing Instructor considered an asset
- ORCKA Levels or Instructor considered an asset
- G2 or G license (or international equivalent) preferred
