Expand your personal limits
For the first 3 days, Olympia will serve as ‘base camp’ for campers to develop the outdoor skills mentioned below, plus participate in Olympia’s fabulous ‘free time’ activities, evening programs and camp life.
Midweek, Outdoor Skills & Adventure campers will travel to Haliburton Forest to further experience and enhance their outdoor skills during 3-day 2-night backpacking out trip. Haliburton Forest will provide campers access to over 300 kilometres of backpacking trails, opportunities for rappelling, rock climbing, swimming and putting their camp craft skills learned at base camp to practical use as they camp out in tents for two nights.
Outdoor Skills & Adventure Camp provides opportunities for campers to try a variety of exciting, new challenging activities in a safe and fun environment.
All activities are introduced with the philosophy of “challenge by choice” where campers have the option of determining their own level of participation. Activities are planned and introduced in a progressive format allowing campers to feel comfortable with themselves as well as the feeling that they are part of the group with other campers in the program. This supportive environment allows campers to decide to what degree they wish to challenge their own personal limits; often beyond their expectations, enhancing their self-concept.
Skills for life
In addition, campers learn important life skills in the areas of group decision making, effective communication skills, trust, team building and friendship.
Trained leaders help campers to “take the learning” from these “challenge experiences” and apply them to every-day real-life situations.
Our staff members are chosen for their skills, their attention to safety and their supportive nature in working with campers. They are committed to adventure-based learning.
